​​Our sunflowers become history

A day after harvesting sunflowers, we decided to harrow the stubble... it was a right decision. The soil was still very soft, so the work performed with our disc harrow was fantastic, as you can see in our pictures. Our main aim was to tip over the stems, but with Moresil cuttebar it is very easy because they reduce their size considerably (we had to pick up stems and weeds to burn them in other past campaigns). Besides, we have to mention our Gascón discs harrow... we are very pleased with its work.

Now, fields are ready to be harrowed with cultichissel. Then, we shall spread fertilizer and start to sowing barley within a few weeks... we hope it will rain in order to work without dust.

Moresil and sunflowers: well done!

​Sunflowers harvesting started in our area in September. As you can see in our pictures, our friends Juan Julián de la Fuente (father and son) used for the first time their new Moresil GB 700 cuttebar. This header has 7 meters of working width. The most important feature is its chopper which is attached to the bottom zone and it allows us to crush all stems of sunflowers, so the stubble is perfect to harrow with chissel plough or discs plough and we don't have to pick up any stems as we carried out before using this type of cuttebar. Where there aren't stones this chopper can work at ground level and stems can be absolutely crushed.

About the result of the sunflowers, it is being fine this year because the winter and spring were rainy... we are getting an average about 1,500 kg/ha that is a good result for our area.

In the first harvesting days, sunflowers were not completely dry in a few areas, so the combine had some problems and few augers were clogged and we had to clean it manually as you can see in some pictures
