Sanding and painting

Once we have finished our summer and garlic works and a few days before we have to start to plough our stubble, we have some days to do a few maintenance tasks. This time, we have been painting the second-hand trailer we bought two or three months ago.

As you can see in our pictures, we sanded and painted every sheets, we fixed its two hydraulic cylinders and we revised the hydraulic brakes. I think it is in top shape to use for harvesting and sowing.

The last garlic work: delivery in the cooperative

In these days of August, we have to deliver our garlic in the cooperative. This work is done in rotating shifts among members (the cooperative has over 200 members), so we have to wait to be informed when we must deliver them and what quantity. Garlic are delivered in three times and at the end, the cooperative send us a summary of all our delivered garlic, kilograms, sizes, bad garlic, statistics...

So, it is the last garlic work and it is the most easy: we only have to load on our trailers and hand over the cooperative. Garlic will be unloaded, classed, cleaned, stored in refrigerators and they will be sold during the year.

In my Village (La Alberca de Záncara) about 5 millions kilos of purple garlic are produced; we also have white garlic and Chinese garlic but they are a minority. All of them are delivered in the cooperative to be market in Spain and exported mainly to England, German, Italy, Brazil, Morocco,.... This cooperative is encompassed in other second level cooperative called Coopaman. It unions few near Villages in our area:  Las Pedroñeras, San Clemente, El Provencio, Santa María del Campo Rus, Mota del Cuervo and La Alberca de Záncara.
