Installing taps and performing last details

Once our jar is fixed to its base, we have to install its taps and we have to finish last details with few cement.

We are going to use two taps: one of 2'' and other of 0.5''. The main goal is we can fill our sprayer as quick as it is possible and we can fill easily our tanks, they will be used to water our vegetable garden and fill our deposit for chickens. We have to install a level indicator. It has a small piece of red plastic what is going to indicate us the water level in our jar.

Regarding cement which was used, it has been installed only for aesthetics, so the bottom jar is more beautiful now. We used cement in a zone what didn't have cement because formwork sheets were fixed there... I think it is great.

Harrowing sunflowers. Beautiful landscape with sunflowers

Before we can begin with our harvesting works we will have to wait some days, therefore, while we were waiting the harvesting moment we harrowed our sunflowers. We sowed sunflowers very soon and nowadays they have a higher size than it is normal for this date. The handicap is weeds have growed very strong too, because we couldn't harrow enough the soil before sowing.

As you can see, this work need a big concentration because we use three chissel in each row, because we want to kill all weeds. The tool used for chissel is cutting in one of its side in order to work very near of our sunflowers. In spite of this, we can get a high working speed, of course, if you have a lot of practice.

We show you a few pictures so you can see the landscape so beautiful thanks to the sunflowers.

Second time for sowing sunflowers

As we commented in the previous post about sunflowers sowing, we could have problems with rains and the birth of our sunflower plants. Unfortunately this happened!! Finally it rained and we had to sow some sunflowers again because a few small areas with strong soil didn’t allow their birth.

This time, our cousin John Angel helped us with his Valtra T151e. His seed drill is joined with his chissel, so he can do two works at the same time. We had to change seed drill configuration for working depth was bigger because moisture is deeper than few weeks ago.

Vegetable garden: tomato plants

Last weekend, we planted our tomato plants. Nowadays, we have finished our vegetable garden works and now we only have to water it once a week. We had to water our tomato plants immediately after they were transplanted so that they can adapt their new soil quickly.

This work is easy: you only need a hoe, and tomato plants, of course :)

The used seeds are saved from tomatoes of the previous year. They are drying inside of a piece of paper and stored until Marz, when they were sowed in the tray as you can see in our the first picture (You cann't sow tomato seeds in the field directly). We have different types of tomatoes, i.e., we have big tomato for salad or Manchego ratatouille, Cherry tomatoes or tomatoes with pears shape.
